About
About EmergencyPetPrep
EmergencyPetPrep is an independent publisher covering pet emergency preparedness: what to have ready, what to do in a crisis, and how to tell reliable guidance from repeated, unchecked claims. We built this site because most of what's published in this category is written by retailers, product brands, or posts repeating advice nobody checked. We don't sell pet-emergency products or take sponsorships; we're reader-supported through disclosed Amazon links, and commissions never touch rankings. We source our claims, cite them, and tell you what they actually say.
Who Publishes This Site
Articles on EmergencyPetPrep are credited to EmergencyPetPrep Editorial, a brand byline, not an individual. We're explicit about that rather than inventing a name, a clinic, or a credential we don't hold. A fabricated author bio would undermine the exact trust this site depends on.
That is a deliberate, standing policy, not a placeholder we are waiting to replace. A personal byline asks you to trust a person. We would rather you trust the sources, so every page names the veterinary and emergency-management organizations its guidance comes from, links them, and quotes what they actually say. Where those sources disagree with each other, we show you the disagreement instead of picking whichever version sounds most confident. Where nobody publishes an answer, we say that plainly rather than filling the gap with something invented.
We Are Not the Experts. Your Veterinarian Is.
We do not hold veterinary credentials and we do not claim to. Nothing on this site is a diagnosis, a treatment plan, a dosing instruction, or a substitute for your own veterinarian, who is the only person who knows your animal, its history, and its medications. If anything here ever contradicts your vet, your vet is right.
What we do is narrower, and we think more useful to you than another site claiming expertise: we gather what the authorities actually publish, check product specifications against manufacturer documentation, show our work, and hand you the sources so you can judge for yourself. The list at the bottom of every article is not decoration. It is the whole argument, and we would rather you read it than take our word for anything. For anything medical, and for anything where being wrong would hurt your animal, call your vet or your nearest emergency clinic first.
How We Stay Independent
EmergencyPetPrep doesn't sell pet-emergency products, doesn't take sponsorships, and has no financial relationship with any product brand. The site is funded by Amazon Associates commissions on some product links and, eventually, display advertising. Neither is allowed to touch our rankings. The team that writes and edits picks doesn't see commission data by product, and a cheaper option that's the better pick gets recommended as the better pick, full stop. Our full evaluation criteria are on the methodology page.
How We Use AI in Our Research
EmergencyPetPrep uses AI-assisted tools as part of our research and drafting process: pulling and organizing source material, drafting initial copy, and checking our own work against our editorial standards. Every published claim is checked against an actual source before it runs, and every draft passes a human editorial review before publication. We disclose this plainly because readers deserve to know how content gets made, not because AI assistance is something to hide or something that replaces editorial judgment on this site.
Corrections Policy
Sources update guidance, and occasionally publish claims that don't hold up. When we get something wrong, whether it's a claim, a comparison, or a recommendation, we fix it and note when the page was last updated. If you find a claim on this site that doesn't match what a current source publishes, we want to hear about it. See Contact for how to report an error; we treat those reports as a priority, not a suggestion box.
