Privacy Policy

This policy explains what EmergencyPetPrep collects, why, how long we keep it, and how you can opt out. We've written it in plain language on purpose: no vague "we may share data with partners for business purposes" filler.

What We Collect Today

EmergencyPetPrep uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which guides people actually read. This tells us page views, sessions, and approximate geography (city or region level, not a precise location), so we can prioritize the topics readers care about. GA4 does not log your full IP address. We also see what our hosting provider logs for basic server operation (request time and page requested: standard web server access logs, not tied to a personal profile).

We use this data in aggregate only, to see traffic trends across the whole site, not to build a profile of any individual visitor. We do not sell your data to anyone.

Your Privacy Choices

Analytics on this site runs under Google Consent Mode v2, which means the analytics cookies are switched on or off by a stored consent setting rather than always running. We will be specific about what that means for you, because it is not the same everywhere:

• If you are in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, Quebec, or Brazil: analytics storage starts denied. Nothing is stored and no analytics cookie is set unless you press Accept on the banner.
• Everywhere else, including the rest of the US and Canada: analytics storage starts granted, because no equivalent consent-before-storage rule applies. You will still see the banner and can decline at any time.
• Advertising signals are denied everywhere, for everyone, always. This site runs no ads, so there is nothing for them to do. If that ever changes, this page changes with it.

What declining actually does, precisely. It stops the analytics cookie being set, and stops anything that could identify you or link one visit to another. It does not make the page silent: Google still receives an anonymous, cookieless signal that a page was viewed, which it uses for aggregate estimates. That is how Consent Mode works everywhere it is deployed, not something particular to this site, and we would rather tell you than let you discover it in a network tab. If you want nothing sent at all, the browser add-on or content blocker below does that.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as a decision you have already made: all analytics and advertising storage is denied, silently, and we do not show you a banner asking again. You do not have to do anything, and nothing about the site works differently because of it.

Your choice is stored in your browser's local storage underepp_consent_v1, alongside the date you made it. It is not a tracking identifier, it never leaves your device, and we cannot see it. Independently of any of the above, you can opt out with theGoogle Analytics opt-out browser add-on (opens in a new tab), or by using a content blocker. Either method stops GA4 from collecting data about your visit regardless of what this site does.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. There is no ad network on this site, and the advertising signals in the section above are switched off for every visitor, in every country, permanently — not as a setting you have to find, but as a line in the code.

California's rules treat some analytics arrangements as a "sale" or "share" even when no money changes hands, so we will be concrete rather than clever about it: the only third party that receives anything about your visit is Google Analytics, you can switch it off above or by declining the banner, and if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal we treat that as the request itself and switch it off without asking. You do not need to submit a request, create an account, or verify your identity to any of that.

Advertising Cookies (When Ads Are Enabled)

When EmergencyPetPrep runs display advertising, it will be through Google AdSense or a similar ad partner. Ad partners like Google use cookies and similar technology to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and third-party vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits. This applies only once an ad partner is actually active on the site. If you're reading this before that's the case, no ad cookies are being set.

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ad Settings (opens in a new tab), or opt out of third-party vendor cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info (opens in a new tab).

Email List

If you sign up for the checklist email, we collect your email address, the first name you type if you choose to enter one (the field is optional), and the page you signed up from. That last one is recorded so we know which guides readers actually want more of; it is a page address, not a browsing history. All three are stored with our email service provider,Resend (opens in a new tab), along with whether you have confirmed your subscription and when. The same three values are also recorded on our own server, together with the fact that you confirmed and, later, the fact that you unsubscribed if you do, so we can reconcile our list against Resend's. Nothing else is collected by the signup form, and the form is protected against automated abuse with Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare processes the challenge; seeCloudflare's privacy policy (opens in a new tab)).

Signing up does not subscribe you. We email you a confirmation link, and only a click on that link subscribes you and sends the checklist. Until then your address is stored in a suppressed, pending state that cannot be sent anything except that one confirmation email. If you never confirm, the pending record is deleted within 30 days and you hear nothing further from us. If someone else typed your address into the form, ignoring the confirmation email is enough — no action is needed on your part.

We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your email address to any third party. Newsletter emails include a one-click unsubscribe link; you can also unsubscribe any time by replying to any email we send with the word "unsubscribe", and a human removes you. Unsubscribing is immediate and permanent: no "are you sure" dark patterns.

How long we keep it: your email address is retained for as long as you stay subscribed. An unconfirmed signup is deleted within 30 days, as described above. The full retention schedule, including what happens to your address after you unsubscribe, is in Data Retention just below.

Data Retention

Email addresses are retained for as long as you're subscribed. Unconfirmed signups are deleted within 30 days of the signup attempt.

When you unsubscribe, we stop sending immediately, but we do not delete your address, and we want to be straightforward about why. The record that you opted out is the thing that keeps you opted out: if we erased it, the same address could be added again by the next person who typed it into a form, and you would start hearing from us all over again. So we keep a suppression record — your address and the fact that you said no — and nothing else is done with it. If you would rather we erase it outright and accept that risk, ask us and we will, within 30 days.

Our own signup, confirmation and unsubscribe records are kept for 24 months and then deleted, so that we can show when and how consent was given or withdrawn. Server access logs, if enabled by our hosting provider, follow that provider's standard retention window.

Requesting Deletion

To unsubscribe from email, use the link in any email we send. To request deletion of any other data we may hold about you, contact us via the contact page and we'll confirm deletion within a reasonable timeframe.

Children's Privacy

EmergencyPetPrep is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or how we use it, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We don't expand data collection quietly.
